A more detailed look at what’s new with Witta

Hey guys, this is Connor Beaton. I’m lead programmer and designer on Witta; my colleague Charlie devised the base concept of the site and continues to provide critique, new ideas and so on, so he’s basically my boss. I’m here to tell you a bit about what we’ve been working on recently, and what you can expect to see in the website in the next few days, assuming you’ve received an invite from one of your hip and trendy friends.

AJAX Integration: AJAX really is the future. We’re embracing Web 2.0 by using AJAX as much as possible in the website, which means portions of Witta will load faster than ever before, and you’ll find out what’s new with your friends even easier than usually.
The Pinboard: We’ve been working at the Pinboard, your centre of information on Witta, to bring you the best unified social networking experience out there. We’ve also thrown in an awesome little Refresh button just above the main content area, which refreshes the Pinboard using – you guessed it – AJAX.
Profiles: Profile pages will be prettier and more accessible than ever. Editing your profile couldn’t be easier, and dropping a message on somebody else’s page will be as easy as pie. Mm, pie.
The Home: The Home is like your own personal Pinboard. It’s a page where you can see all notifications pertaining to you; somebody has posted a picture of you, somebody has left a message on your page, somebody has added you as a friend. It’s the first place you should check when you sign into Witta, which is why it’s called the Home.
Photos: If you were one of the (un-)lucky ones who were involved in the first Witta beta, you may have experienced the disaster called photo uploading. Well, good news for you guys: photo uploading is now much easier, much faster, and much prettier. Usability is more important than design, but here at Witta, we’re trying to balance the two.

That’s pretty much all we can tell you guys right now, so keep your eyes out for any new developments, and hopefully you’ll receive an invite to this special social networking website sometime in the future. We’ll also be giving out some invites via Twitter: more on that soon!
